Portal to the Metro is a Bourbon-lives AU*, Portal-crossover roleplay verse with Jove (@game-warden)
*yes, another of these.
Rough timeline:
The Resonance Cascade was the catalyst for the last war, resulting in Moscow being nuked. Metro 2033's story proceeds roughly as normal. Artyom and Bourbon meet Chell via a miraculously functioning cell phone and a flimsy connection, and communicate for months via text, sharing the phone until they find a second one. Bourbon survives being shot in Dry and pursues a romantic relationship with Artyom.
Eventually, Chell develops long distance portal technology and establishes a connection between the metro and Aperture. She and Bourbon become close friends and visit each other regularly, in Aperture and D6.
Chell, Black Mesa's #1 hater and aggressor, invites Bourbon to look at aliens at some point and gets him shot by Gordon. (This will not be the last time. It will happen again.)
Artyom proves to be a selfish hero, and in the "Library" chapter of things, is almost killed by a Librarian. Chell intervenes and surgically saves his life. Artyom is kept in a medically induced coma for weeks to heal his broken spine.
As he recovers, Chell arranges with the Black Mesa hacks for them to babysit him, keeping him busy and feeling "needed" but safe. (This is roughly where we are now.)
While Artyom is kept busy working with Black Mesa, Bourbon is eventually introduced to one of Chell's newly created cores, made out of the consciousness of someone he knew, and he struggles with this.
Additional info and content:
Since this crossover places Metro, Portal, and Half Life in the same universe, Black Mesa and Half Life characters are occasionally referenced or present.
Occasionally, mad scientist stuff happens.
Adjacent to Providence-verse in the sense that Bourbon survives, he and Artyom are together, and the two of them live for some time at D6. I also reuse Bourbon's backstory from Providence for PttM. Different in the sense that Chell's presence drastically alters the course of the story after the end of Providence chapter 1/Metro 2033.
In terms of what I write for this crossover: I do not handle much (any) Chell-centric work for this verse. Most of my stuff is focused almost entirely on what's going on with the two characters I play, and the world around them.
